Many experts now believe that maintaining a young appearance depends on the outlook in life that you have. Studies show that when people are very positive it can help them to eliminate stress so they look younger. It does take some mind control though to be able to always think positive. Negativity can spread like poison, so you have to be fully aware of your thoughts.
According to the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, individuals that are positive when it comes to their thinking are going to live longer than others. On average, they will live 7 ½ years longer. This is the result of their blood pressure being lower, them having lower cholesterol readings, and they also have lots of energy. Due to that energy they have no trouble exercising all the time.
Individuals that have a positive mindset are believed to feel younger than average individuals. One marriage therapist, Sheri Meyers, believes that the way we feel about aging is what can cause it or what can prevent it. The more a person things positive, the less that stress can take a toll on them physically or mentally.
Individuals that are grateful tend to have fewer problems with depression. As a result, they tend to live longer and look younger. Taking time to reflect on your inner self and what you can do is a shift that can influence how old you look.
A lifestyle that is healthy in addition to thinking positive is also going to help someone look younger. By eating right, drinking plenty of water every single day, sleeping enough, and getting daily exercise a person can look many years younger than they really are.
Another factor of people that look years younger than they really are is that they have a wonderful sense of humor. They laugh often and they are quite carefree in what they do. They try to find something fun in all they do and that really keeps the stress at bay.
