Let exercise lengthen you life
There have been endless studies by well-known medical institutes that link regular amounts of exercise to longer life spans and improved health. Unfortunately a lot of these facts and figures land on deaf ears, and due to lack of time or lack of interest, thousands of people continue with their less than healthy life styles.
We have heard this so many times that we now take it for granted and pay it little attention to its vital message. Even for those that don’t feel motivated to take part in any sort of physical exercise, a short stroll in the park or even a quick game of tennis or badminton will help to maintain your health in the long run.
A good way to develop a strong routine of daily exercise is to star when we’re young, introduce it to your children; they love active play at that age. It can be quite difficult to endure through fitness programs and we tend to get really excited at first, but this interest slowly fades and we fall back into our old lazy routines. These are normal feelings and it doesn’t mean that you’ve failed, just pick those weights back up or throw on a pair of shorts and run out the door.
If you are new to working out then you may have high expectations and be a little impatient when you don’t see the instant weight loss or rock hard abs. Remember that it takes time for your body to go through the natural process of building and repairing new muscles, or exercising enough to burn off a significant amount of fat. Everyone is different and for some things come quicker than for others.
Sit down and think about all the things that you do in a day and how much movement and energy are used to do these things; you might be surprised at how little movement you actually do. For some it means mainly walking around the house and at work, the rest of the time is spent sitting down. Now consider whether you will be able to live a healthy life up to about 70 if you continue to live with out some form of exercise. This questioning should help you to get motivated to start a training program.
To get the best results from you exercise regime you should also eat a balanced diet containing good amounts of all essential vitamins and minerals. A good amount of raw foods such as vegetables and fruits, as well as low calorie type foods. Wash all of this down with plenty of fresh water to cleanse your system of toxins. If you are a smoker or drinker, than it may be advisable to limit your in take during this time, and afterwards perhaps even consider quitting for good. After a few weeks of exercise you will find that besides losing weight and gaining muscle mass, you will also feel a boost of energy.
To avoid stopping half way through the training program and giving up, it’s advisable to choose a form of exercise that you find enjoyable, and again it doesn’t have to be weight lifting or running, it could be a light sport or power walking, and what about mountain biking?
